Tattoo Aftercare

A tattoo is a voluntary skin wound. Proper healing depends directly on the care provided during the first weeks. Special attention is essential to ensure good skin recovery and to preserve the long-term quality of your tattoo.

The first hours after your session

At the end of your session, your tattoo is protected with a bandage. This bandage should be kept on for the duration recommended by your tattoo artist, usually a few hours.

Approximately two hours after the session, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, then remove the bandage. Gently clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water and a pH-neutral, fragrance-free soap. Cleaning must be done using only your hands, without washcloths, sponges, or loofahs.

Rinse carefully to remove all soap residue. Dry the tattoo by gently patting with a clean paper towel, without rubbing. Allow the tattoo to air-dry for a few minutes. The more the tattoo is exposed to air, the better it will heal. Avoid prolonged friction, especially from tight or abrasive clothing.

Application of healing cream

The healing cream should be applied 48 hours after the session, in accordance with your tattoo artist’s recommendations. Apply a small amount only: the skin should be well moisturized, without excess product and without a shiny or greasy appearance.

Repeat the application two to three times per day for approximately three weeks.

Daily care during healing

Throughout the healing phase, clean your tattoo daily with lukewarm water and a pH-neutral soap. Always wash your hands before each care session. Dry by gently patting with a clean paper towel and allow the tattoo to breathe as much as possible.

During healing, it is normal for the tattoo to itch, for the skin to feel dry, or for small scabs to form. Do not scratch and do not pick at peeling skin or scabs. They will fall off naturally. If discomfort occurs, lightly moisturize using the recommended cream.

What to avoid

During healing, avoid sun exposure and UV rays, as well as baths, swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms, for approximately 10 days. Do not apply any products to the tattooed area other than those recommended by your tattoo artist.

Extra caution is required regarding contact with domestic animals, in order to limit the risk of infection.

Follow-up and check-up

It is recommended to return for a tattoo check-up approximately one month after it is done, to ensure proper healing.
